I know you had troubles in Unraid, right? What was the trick?

Yep.
unraid just worked. It was all the shit before that that didnt.

Install the intel_gpu_top plugin, properly pass the gpu to the binhex-plexpass container, install gpu_statistics, watch for GPU action when transcoding (and nearly no CPU).

I did have a CPU load max issue with unraid, but that was related to a VM being fucky, which then maxed out IOwait, which then impacted transcoding.

I know you guys have explained why you stick everything in containers or vms before, but the number of instances of separate SQL servers running just makes me shake my head.

It's all SQLite shit. I suppose they probably could support a real DB if I cared. But I don't.

I run mariaDB and point everything to that central container to avoid exactly that.

New server parts should be here tomorrow!
I'm thinking about moving my server to a somewhat newer architecture (say, 10th generation Intel, instead of 3rd). Just another plank replacement on the Ship of Theseus.

Where do you shop for motherboard/CPU/RAM?
