Anyone seen any deals on 4TB+ hard drives? While my Seagate drives that some of you bitched about are working fine, my 4TB WD drive is now reporting some bad sectors. Ugh...

I 'fixed' this by moving the drive with the bad sectors to a parity drive.

It doesn't really matter because I spend zero time in it. I either launch Plex or SmoothStreams.

Got in a "cheap" Chinese'ish ATSC modulator with an HDMI input. It'll take up to 1080I and spit out 720P on a UHF ATSC channel between 14 and 69.

Going to use it send a computer to all the TV's in the house, primarily for NFL2Go.

I have two drives for parity with SnapRAID. So for it to matter, I'd have to lose two drives at once before I really need the second parity drive. And if some bits are fuxxed, then that TV show episode won't get restored. Oh well.

My chinese'ish modulator is all setup. I've got an Intel NUC streaming NFL2Go though it and into the antenna wiring already in place.

Got 720P with stereo audio running though it.



I did need to put -20db pad on it's output. The thing sends out +25db.

Yeah. But for what this is for, Sportsball,, 720p is plenty good.

Oh, and the modulator is limited to 720P output, it will however pass Dolby Digital.

Ok, I have a friend who needs to connect some ancient machinery to a computer for monitoring. It requires a RS-232 with a custom pinout and over time the block inside the housing had broken.

Anyone know where to get the connection block? Does anyone sell unassembled 232 connectors anymore?
