1. medical - the patient has medical conditions that make the anesthesia options too risky, where the risks that come with doing it unsedated (mostly the risk that they'll move more, which increases risks for complications like bowel perforation) are less than the risks of sedation
2. financial - the patient can't afford the sedation
3. logistics - the patient can't get the time off work to recover from the anesthesia (on top of the time to have the procedure done and any time spent off during prep), and/or the patient doesn't have anyone that can get them home after the procedure
