actually after restarting the printer and my computer a bunch of times (after uninstalling and installing the drivers like 4 times), completely gutting the printer of paper, cartridge, circuits, etc. it finally decided to work on me. i have no idea what the problem was in the first place but i swear if it happens again it's going out the window.
