The Affordable Care Act was a step in the right direction to a complicated problem.

It was a "here guys, you can really fuck them now" to the corporate overlords from a guy who's at least as big a crook as this guy but you'll never recognize that because you have an illogical, emotional attachment to that guy and an illogical, emotional disdain for this guy.

Airtight America!

As usual, govt program starts with good intentions then immediately gets swallowed in the usual bureaucracy of creating 14 new branches of departments to oversee the other 14 branches and why not throw a couple new departments in there too all run by people who've only ever dealt in pissing away other people's money then come the election campaign donations and corporate kickbacks and people are getting milked and fucked out of the very thing this was all supposed to help then along come more good intentions and well we're on the right track it just needs more oversight and a little restructuring so we'll fix that with some more inefficient red tape and have some more people oversee other people who are overseeing other people and just give it a chance and we're really working hard on this and maybe sometime after you're dead we'll get it figured out by hamstringing everybody up and down the chain so bad you have to sit on hold for an entire day just so the 4th supervisor you get to speak with can tell you the 5th supervisor from that other department you have a phone appointment with next Thursday can tell you your problem gets handled by another department let me transfer you and here we go again.
Oh yes, because that's totally different than what we have now.

i can't get over how stupid this comment is.......

and even worse that people gravied this nonsense.

Obama’s biggest mistake while penning the ACA was thinking he could do a YUGE bipartisan thing so he invited some republicans in on the creation of the bill, and they brought their friends, and some democrats brought some friends...

And the friends were lobbyists for health insurance companies. The only way to get the bill to pass was to include a bunch of shit in it.

It got a lot of people insurance who didn’t have it before.

When you hear ads with Rs saying “We are fighting to protect coverage for pre-existing conditions” it means they are keeping it in but you’ll have to pay a LOT extra.

It’s not really “insurance” anymore.

he didn't pen the ACA...he simply put pen to paper and signed off on it

the bottom line is this....democrats had a safe majority in the house and a filibuster-proof supermajority of 60 in the senate.

obama didn't cave to any GOP demands....the ACA was forced through on the backs of democratic majority...nothing more.

That isn’t true at all.

Except that he didn’t actually put pen to paper except to sign it. That’s the only accurate part of your post.

Obama wanted BIPARTISAN input on the bill.

He didn’t want the divide that happened anyway, because you know, being black and all.

Was kinda my point with the handout to corporate overlords comment.
Was pretty much written by insurance companies. 2000 pages of it. That nobody fucking read before voting on it. Can't really blame just one guy or one party for that. They're all in on it.

Look how many votes those spineless R's had to overturn it when they knew damn good and well the guy in the Whitehouse would never sign off on it. Then when there's a guy in there that just might actually sign it all those votes disappeared.

We need some kinda deal where before a bill gets a vote it has to be posted for a month or something for all of us to try to read through and make sense of. Then the vote has to be on exactly that bill without a single word changed, added, or removed.
Change something and we get another month to figure out what kinda hoodwink they're trying to pull.
