I think I've got the most annoying response to the airplane/treadmill argument, which I posted on here somewhere.

It involves the treadmill accelerating at a stupidly fast rate, applying a force to the plane's wheels by spinning them up, and countering the thrust of the jet.

I think the treadmill hit the speed of light in less than a minute, but whatever.

if the treadmill can provide enough force so no forward momentum occurs and thus no lift under the wings, you'd be right.
