For many years I have wanted to see Don Rickles do his shtick... live... like, with him *still* alive. I've seen clips of his stuff. I've seen the youtubes. I can't help but think that seeing him live would be kinda neat.

I missed him by a week during my bachelor party at the Tropicana in Atlantic City back in '02. I've considered going to see him during the intervening years but finances, exile to Ohio, and disinterest have thwarted my efforts at every turn.

This year I can see him on March 6 or 7 at the Borgata Casino in Atlantic, but at the horrible cost of having to drive up the turnpike AND pay $142 per ticket. That's a shitton of money for a seat at a show. I find myself torn.

The meat of the thread shall, with any luck at all, consist of people discussing old acts they'd pay money to see. There's a lot of still alive performers out there of superior quality. Who would you pay too much to see before they die?

my brother saw them two weeks before kurt topped himself

as for me, i'd like to see brubeck perform.

This guy?

'Cause, after skimming the wiki page, I'd like to see him too.

Also:

I'm glad I've gone to see the Preservation Hall Jazz Band a couple of times. Of course, they constantly replenish themselves as they die off, so, with any luck, I'll be able to see them again and again.

Amy Whinehouse... I have another month max

But seriously AC/DC. I was going to get my dad and I tickets but it was just way to close to Christmas and sold out so far in advance. Does Cheech and Chong count?

I always wanted to see Brian Wilson and finally managed it in 2005, so that dream is fulfilled. I don't really want to see many bands any more, I haven't been to a gig in years. I'd like to see Bjork because I vaguely saw her at Glastonbury in 07 but I was too drunk and fell asleep next to the stage insetad of listening. The next day I was kicking myself, cos she was absolutely awesome.

I also wanted to see Squarepusher and managed that, even managed to get up on the stage and dance with the man himself. That was one of the highlights of my year. :D

So yeah, nobody really.

I was lucky enough to see Sublime and Alice in Chains (multiple times). I really wish I would have been able to see Mitch Hedberg, Johny Cash, and James Brown before they died.
