So who here will like paying for their internet the same way as they pay for their TV?

Basically websites will be treated like tv channels, and grouped together in packages. For example, Youtube, Hulu and DailyMotion would be grouped into a video package, and this package would cost you X amount of dollars per month.

I think this sucks and that full net neutrality laws should be passed in order to block this. Though as we know the megacorperations will just buy their through congress and get whatever laws they want.

you're a whore, but in a good way. Kindof.
I imagine that the Google bill collectors will be shiny metal androids with glowing red eyes.

No.

You'll get an automated -email, call, and letter all saying "It's OK if you didn't have time to pay us. To save you time, we went ahead and found your bank account and have directly secured our payment. Next month, if you don't have time, we'll rebill that account, or any of the other ones we found. We're Google. We're Everywhere. "

fuck no.

I'm waiting for the black man in chief to say, "hay gais! I got this idea how to get rid of the irs & make taxes super easy for us to get, uh, I mean control!, wait - I mean, save you time with. why don't we just let all money be monitored by us. Like, your boss would pay you out of an account that we monitor so when he pays you we know exactly when & how much. Then, when you pay the 7-11 for that cherry slurpy, we'll know how much and when that happens too. If we do this for everyone, we'll just take what we say we need when we say that we need it to save you the trouble and effort of dewing it yerself! We could provide the 7-11 it's daily sales reports! Think of how much time your government could save you by controlling, uh, i mean monitoring it. . . !

back to the OP. I think the internet service providers should not be able to decide what sites are available/more available based on site package costs.

Access is Access. The end.

Now, if some company wants to buy a bunch of video sites & make them pay sites, fine. Competition can keep it fair. but it that should not be coupled with your internet access agreement. I'm not

This is what happens when a bunch of guys that can't even check their own email are in charge of net legislation.

This isn't happening. This would drastically reduce their profits, because mom and pop would only pay for the basic "E-mail & Fox News" package.

not if the fox news package required you to get ten other network websites as part of a news package

you'll still be paying a flat rate service fee... these are in a sense additional subscription fees..

Its not the consumer end to be worried about. They are going to start charging the content providers, all while NOT lowering our internet bills.
