On some forums it's nice, like take my MMA forum (www.fightsforum.com), you can use your avatar to show your favourite fighter, or have an animated one of a nice segment of action from a fight you liked.

Here however, I don't get the big deal. Don't get me wrong though, I used to call for avatars a lot, but now I just don't really care.
