Last season of Discovery was ass, but Picard ended *very* well.

Last Discovery season ended with two of the most trek-ish of trek episodes in a long time. Learning how to communicate with the 10C aliens was awesomely geeky.

Strange New Worlds: pretty good! The characters are likeable and memorable, the captain makes the wrong choices to do the right thing sometimes (very TNGish).

I could do without the "mysterious troubled backstory" of a couple characters. But its not overwhelming so far.

Gabe and I are most of the way through Discovery. Meh. Looking forward to more Pike in strange new worlds. Awesome Toxic Masculinity. I'm sure they'll find a way to screw it up.

Hemmer's got big "IT guy who's sick of your shit" vibes going on as the chief engineer on SNW, and I'm loving it.

Somehow he's melded Shran from Enterprise with Jett Reno from Disco.

I'm a sucker for musical cues, and the call back to TOS when it was Spock vs. Spock with the Lirpas was a real tickle.

Also, Captain Pike is the best captain of the Enterprise.
