$1094.66 CAD taxes in later, got the Fit back.

They started tearing into it... two exhaust manifold studs were cracked already so there was a small exhaust leak there. They broke a few more taking the thing off, so they ended up just throwing all new exhaust manifold studs into the head when it was off. And the #4 spark plug was loose (car shot the #3 plug) and the threads half wrecked there too, so they helicoiled that cylinder too. They were cursing their heads off how hard the car was to work on.

They said the rest of the car was great otherwise... excepting the bypassed AC pulley and the cable-tied-back-together front bumper :) "Oh, it'll pass inspection for sure"... "well, how about inspecting it for me? it's up in a few months anyway"... so they threw on a brand new 2-year inspection, which will greatly help sell this fuckin' car.

My family sent up a surplus 2011 Corolla they had, to replace the car, which I'll have in about a week. Apparently it has a noisy release bearing though, which is a ridiculously common issue. Maybe I'll hang onto the Fit for an extra month and do a clutch job to break in the new garage...

Thought my mechanic's stethoscope had told me the tensioner pulley's bearing was going. Get one, remove belt and tensioner, tensioner sounds good. Investigate and it looks like the alt is the culprit.
Debating on swapping the pulley since I'm already there anyways

If it's been spinning even half as many miles as the rest of that truck has I'd do it anyway seeing as you already have it. Not a spendy item.

Any clue if these are worth a shit? Mom's husband misread the AliBaba link and bought a half gross of them. Sent me home with a couple boxes.
They're the heat shrink with the soldering crap inside them
I generally don't solder when I don't absolutely have to.

That said, is it really worth $15 to get $1 worth of solder in $5 worth of heat shrink?

Hey Negative Nancies, I believe Ive narrowed my car down to 2... MAAAAAYBE 3!

2020 BMW X2 xDrive 28i
or
2020 Lexus NX

tell me your thoughts you debbie downers
So, after bitching up a storm at me for even suggesting it, you've managed to narrow it down to two station wagons that've been stung by bees all on your own?

Good job.
