Need some ideas for this new toy

My dad is looking at getting a new BB. Our IT director said that a cessation of service was unlikely due to so many peoples' reliance on the technology and the money it generates. Would you agree with that?
there are people here worried enough about it to buy a shitload of different devices like this to try. there's another couple of apps in development that would be easier on windows mobile :shifty:

edit: this keyboard sucks

Of course, I'm serious when I said try to get a virus on it. It is better to try it now and see the damage it would have then to find out later that what would make those apps easier on a windows mobile helps make them virus prone, as well.

And I wouldn't be surprised if BB is in serious trouble. Sounds like a load of shit, but it is all perfectly legal.

I'll look around. It seems anything for this costs a min. of $30. The only thing I've found for free is Acrobat Reader. Giving it back with a virus would be funny ... unless it used my work address to ask everyone if they wanted to buy viagra.

Here's how I think the BB thing will really go down. Eventually, they will get slapped with an injunction. They'll have something like 30 days before it goes into effect. At the zero hour, some resolution will be reached and everyone will be happy.

Supposedly, RIM has a workaround for this patent problem, but no one knows what yet.

They've already been slapped with an injunction. A few, actually. They got an extension that was later turned down.

Oddly, the government had MANY agencies all filing how a full injunction would disrupt many in the industries.

my PI has one, i've never seen him without it in his hand since he got it. i think it's great for people who have a lot on their plate and don't necessarily have time for anything but their job

My wife has the one without the camera. The first one she got kept locking up on her. Verizon sent her a new one. She loves it. She does hate the keyboard though.
I have the Samsung i730.

Win or lose, you might be seeing more Windows handhelds in the near future :shifty:

But make no mistake, it won't be because they are better. :) MS has enough money and clout to force their way into damned near any market.

Actually there are two or three things they are doing better than any other handheld right now that fits just right with us.

Syncing with their own goram mail servers, however, isn't fucking one of them

I don't doubt that they will have a couple of features that are nice. I also don't doubt that for the nice stuff, you will have to pay for more. Nor do I doubt that they will stagnate the market when they have it cornered.
