Notes: At the beginning of the season, I would have laughed at this matchup and said Florida in a landslide. With Florida's slump at the end, and Penn State finally finding an offense at the end of the season, I'm picking the Lions but it's going to go down to the wire.

wtf is that?

It's the div 3 championship game. AA Stagg was the coach of the University of Chicago's Div 1 football team back when they were a powerhouse, before the president of the institution tore down the football stadium to build a library. Now UofC is Div 3, but Stagg still lives on.

that's messed up. do they burn an effigy of him at the start of every fb season?

I find it funny that I had to spend more than 1 minute to find out who was playing that game even though it's only 2 days away.

I've never heard of either team playing in it either

I am pissed that my alma mater didn't get a bid, even though they won their last 8 straight this year

They should.

Then again, this was right after the Manhattan Project era, after the first sustained nuclear reaction took place in the stadium, underneath the squash courts. The president decided to turn the focus of the institution to academics and leave the sports program behind. This man was quoted as saying "When I get the urge to exercise, I lie down until it goes away".

UofC used to belong to the Big10 and is a big reason why universities so badly want to get into the Big10 (unless their name is Notre Dame)

No its not. Schools want in purely for money from the big ten network. Notre dame already has a better tv contract, if it ever goes away they'll be in the big ten in like six seconds.

They would still get more money belonging to the Big10 than staying with CBS. It ain't money for Notre Dame.

And yes, the UofC started the CIC (Committee on Institutional Cooperation). You join that, and the schools themselves get a shit ton of academic money.
