So I'm looking at getting a server that can multifunction (Small Business Server).

As far as licensing goes, do I need to get Software Assurance, or is that not really worth it?

Also, should I get SAS or SATA II hard drives? There's a significant price difference, so I'm having trouble deciding.

The HDs depend on how much will be written at any given time. Remember, you can only put data on those disks as fast as your network can handle. If your not on anything more than gigabit and it's just for small file, I would go with the least expensive.
