I have a pepper grinder. It's great, but it's tiny and holds like 2 tablespoons of peppercorns and I'm constantly refilling the thing.

So I bought what I thought was a half decent bigger pepper grinder with a ceramic grinder in it... and it worked great for like a week and then it stopped grinding. I took the thing apart and the upper part of the center grindey part had all broken off and wasn't feeding pepper down into the main grindey part anymore, and I'd probably been eating ceramic bits. great...

"I know, I'll throw a new, high quality pepper grinder mechanism in it"... so I looked at what Lee Valley offers for those and measured the grinder, nope, not gonna fit without a bunch of work and it's probably just easier to just make a whole entire pepper grinder. Hang on, I know a random asshole with a workshop and a lathe that's constantly showing off woodworking porn, maybe they can make me one!

And I'm sure making a half dozen of them is barely more effort than making 1 of them, so maybe we can all throw in and get some made for ourselves.

- I certainly want a pepper grinder that's not a piece of shit.
- I know @fly / @APRIL are a couple of foodies that would use one with pride.
- @Valve1138 would happily brag about his high end pepper grinder while he seasons his burnt ass pizzas with it.
- If it's high quality and made out of wood, I know @Domon is gonna throw in.

What do you think, @Mustard Dispenser ?

We put fresh cracked pepper on almost everything. If there's a grinder deal count us in. We are using a big glass one that is functional but not pretty that we bought at LIDL.

Yeah, good point, probably shouldn't make a huge one. I'm guessing you got the 12" mechanism vs the 8"?

Other than the size of it, any complaints with it?

M and I went to the Le Creuset outlet years ago and bought a set of these on clearance (different color though)
They've been wonderful

Have y'all thought about looking for pepper mills on etsy? Those are usually hand made with quality components.

Got a Peugot pepper mill like 10 years ago, and it's been fantastic. Easily adjustable grind size, can hold a large amount of pepper, and solidly built
