It doesn't make sense that he'd look so bad, I mean unless they just ignored his hyperthyroidism for a long time. For something that severe, they would likely have removed some or all of the gland and given synthroid supplementation.

There are several fan-recuts of all three of those movies that makes them actually decent
The one for Revenge ends right when they snap the face-mask onto Darth Vader, and he draws that first breath.
None of that silly frankenstein monster crap
Oh,and the first on all but eliminates fuckin jar jar
