WTF Mosque Near WTC v2.0

whatever it is, it's still ill-intentioned. they came saying "we're going to build this to scotch relations", it pissed everyone off, and now they're saying "well... we're still going to build it".

best thing would've been to have backed off with some tact before it blew up into a huge deal if they really wanted to "scotch relations"...

i think people on both sides are just trying to start some shit at this point.

except that's bullshit and it didn't piss everyone off. it pissed off people who are fucking retarded and continue to connect 19 assholes to 1.6 billion people that haven't done shit

Of course people are trying to start shit, it's an election year. Unfortunately every other fucking year has to be an election year. The problem is that there's no reason for them to justify anything. The simple fact that it's hard to find real estate in manhattan and that they were able to get an abandoned building for cheap is the only justification they need to give. They didn't start saying "we're building this to improve relations" until after people started bitching and moaning about shit that doesn't affect them.

It's not ill-intentioned. There's no ill-intent in putting people to work or opening a fucking cooking school.

when a large portion of the population is pissed off - for whatever reason good or bad - and you're still going through with it, then it becomes ill intentioned.

will there be bacon at this cooking school? if not, then it's not really a cooking school, it's a front for something. :shady:

which it isn't.

No, it doesn't. Their intention doesn't magically change because of someone else's reaction to it. Suggesting that other people being pissed off is enough reason to alter their plans is asinine.

Even if the majority of people hate it, that doesn't mean it's ill-intentioned. There is no malice. They are acting in their own private interest.

I wish the right wingers would stick to their party lines for this one. If they want to keep government out of private affairs, so be it. Stop demanding intervention against the Mosque.

what's funniest about this whole thing is that the vast majority of people offended by it don't even live in NYC

Seriously, it's the same thing as the Arizona immigration law. The locals have it covered, sometimes do gooders need to MYOB

Except majority doesn't always rule in the US, and shouldn't. That is why we have a legal system. You do what is right, not what is popular
