Thread Midlife Erections

Mr. Obama did inherit a recession, which is partly responsible for this ocean of red ink. The slow pace of economic recovery has contributed to a collapse in revenues, down to 14.8% of GDP in 2009 and an estimated 14.9% this year. That's well below the modern historical average of about 18.1%, and it is a reminder that economic growth is the most important contributor to smaller deficits. Had last year's "stimulus" worked half as well as the White House advertised, these deficits wouldn't be as large.

ok, this is news to me. Did you mean spending in one particular area and exclude every other area? Cutting $17 billion in defense spending sounds great, but not against the $$TRILLIONS the administration is spending elsewhere expanding their ever-growing role in our lives.

VOTE DEMOCRATS!! You can't trust your neighbor to spend their own money so let the Democrats do it!!

That's from 2009, and was probably a Bush budget.

right. And the democrats had control of the house & senate during 2007 and 2008, the last two years of the bush term.

Senate: Democrats 55, Republicans 41, Independent 2
HoR: Democrats 256, Republicans 178

And since we're all experts, we know that the spending bills originate in the House of Representatives. It's easy to couch this in terms of 'Bush was Pres' but democrats put the bill together and passed the bill, and then, democrat President Obama (who said he was going to cut spending) used the 'it was prior business spending' and 'we'll curtail earmarks in the future' explanation from his list of excuses, instead of stating the truth, "You guys ain't seen nothin' yet!! Muahahahaaaahahahahaaaa, Muaaaaahahahahahahaha!!"

So, Obama spent $410 billion in a bill forwarded to him by a democrat house and democrat senate.

:) vote democrats. we can spend better than u!!!! :)

you republitards never get it. you spend money just as well if not better than the dems. your party is all BS and no substance. I pity you, honestly.

"The fact of the matter is," Obama replied, "is that when we came into office, the deficit was $1.3 trillion -- $1.3 trillion. So when you say that suddenly I've got a monthly deficit that's higher than the annual deficit left by Republicans, that's factually just not true, and you know it's not true. And what is true is that we came in already with a $1.3 trillion deficit before I had passed any law. What is true is, we came in with $8 trillion worth of debt over the next decade."

This has been confirmed as true.

The funny thing about checks and balances.....the Republican POTUS had to sign off on them.

Not to mention the previous Republican majority did a fine job spending a shit ton of money on other countries..

there are a lot of conservatives that were not for much of that spending and are disappointed now in that spending as well. The problem is that the orator in chief said he would reduce spending & he hasn't. You remember all that change he was talkign about.

are you that clueless? really? how does one fix a busted country, he inherited after 8 years of republican bufoonery, without spending money?

The answer to your question is up to debate, obviously. If we understood our own economy, we would also possess the foresight to avoid systemic risk. We don't understand shit. We have a few brilliant people making decent guesses in good faith and an army of pundits and assholes complaining about it.

the funny thing about dates is that there wasn't a republican president when the POTUS signed off on it in March of 2009.

democrat house of representatives
democrat senate
democrat president

smh
you're retarded

the fy 09 budget - the one referenced in that chart - was signed off in 2008. that's how budgets work. notice how it says "percent change from fiscal 2008"?

and unless you're a 17 year old black girl you have no business using "smh". even dbzeag would call you a faggot for that one

And there has been a lot of change. Unfortunately the media doesn't cover shit these days. You have FOx that are completely against the President, and CNN who are completely retarded. Then there are MSNBC which is favourable to the President but they have a tiny audience.
