600 People To Pose Nude At Sagamore Hotel

MIAMI BEACH -- Photographer Spencer Tunick is set to take over the Sagamore Hotel on Monday with a nude photo shoot.

It's not unheard of to see topless women on South Beach. But Tunick will have about 600 men and women baring it all for his camera at the Sagamore.

"It's about fantasy and leisure," he said. "It's a stereotype, but it's true. You're going to have a good time if you come to Miami Beach."

That's the theme of Tunick's latest installation of art.

The artist is known for his photographs of groups of nude people posed in artistic formations.

"I'm going to have 100 to 200 women in pink rafts," he said. "We're going to have people on the balcony posing very much like the Tower of Babel meets Logan's Run. We're going to buy some champagne, 500 bottles, and were going to make a giant explosion for the climax of the installation from the balcony."

The 600 volunteers, most from South Florida, will pose for the New York native.

"We have a Dade County cop posing," he said. "Isn't that great? We have flight attendants posing, doctors, lawyers."

Those posing will not be getting paid, but they will receive a limited edition print of the artwork, which will be on display during the show Art Basel in December.

Eight-foot-high curtains will surround the poolside area of the Sagamore during the photo shoot.

"Throughout the process there could be points where they think this is the oddest thing they ever did, and at the same time they're wondering why they didn't do it before," Tunick said.

The photo shoot takes place on Monday. Tunick said he is not taking any more volunteers, but he said anyone who sends him an interesting clothed photo of themselves, he might consider inviting them down.

yah for free range boobs. dj mingle and other tampans please go, and take pics.

I posed when he came to cleveland a few years ago. 2700 something people showed up for that one.

I suggest you tamponians to go do it. Very fun event.

So how long before nude people aren't considered art anymore? It's been like what.....5000 years? How about we come up with some new cliches. These people are posers, not artists.

The unfortunate thing about most people who get nude just for the fun of it is that they're rarely attractive.
