edit - also shims can stop brake pads squealing.
Ceramic tends to squeak a little longer than the regular/cheaper brakes...metal exposed?
my brakes were squeaking so i had them checked out inside and out, eventually ended up replacing perfectly good pads with ceramic ones just to see what it'd do... still squeaks.
and i drive on average like 300 miles a week.
