Everyone has their favorite local spots they like to visit. Fortunatly Atlanta has a lot of nifty tourist type spots, but the Atlanta Botanical Gardens have got to be one of my favorites. It makes me, and my camera, very happy. So where are your favorite spots?

i absolutely LOVE the third picture from the bottom!

i have many favorite spots, most of them are in the mountains.

That first photo reminds me of some decorations I saw at the Atlantis resort in the Bahamas.

This was at one end of the casino

This was at the other

casino3.jpg

One of the casino slaves demanded that we not take photographs when I snapped this one. Study closely... I expect somewhere in the picture lies the secrets to the smiley face slot machine. I think it has something to do with repeatedly paying a dollar for ten seconds of boredom.

I'm posting this photo of Eileen just because I think it's fucking adorable.

There is a large outdoor area at the resort which is themed to, purportedly, look like relics from the sunken continent of Atlantis. Most of it just reminded me of Myst games. Go fig.

Never had a reason to go any place. Its boring doing it alone.

Nonsense. It is less distracting doing it alone. It is less crowded doing it alone. It is more rewarding doing it alone. You can control the pace more doing it alone.

I think at some point I changed what "it" was. :)

this place is great. i love it. the last time i went, i went with a couple friends and my ex-wife. we sat in some little classroom for some crap about freezing i think. dude was playing with dry ice and put some in a brown balloon and had some mom hold it under her arm. he had some other balloon going on but i dont remember. his whole point was that dry ice sublimates, yeah cool, i know that. he tells the mom who now has a limp brown deflated balloon with liquid in it that she can take that home with her, but might not want to leave it out for guests. i was the only one in a group of 30 people to crack up laughing, i hate you people. and who the fuck doesnt know that nitrogen makes up most of our atmosphere? another question asked at this particular class.

cleveland zoo, its actually pretty decent

the regular stuff you'd see in a city, meh, doesnt stand out to me. there are shopping malls, tall buildings, the browns:lol:, cavs, indians that sort of thing.

if you want restaurants and such, i know most of the good places to eat in the city. really dont visit the party places(haha, i'm old).

my favorite spot in orlando is actually out front of a Panera Bread store at Lake Eola.

I take my laptop there once or twice a week to read, write and have a cup of coffee while i people watch.

Don't really have any in Boston, just love walking down Marlborough St. in Back Bay during Spring, Summer, and Fall.

It's blissfully quiet, gorgeous old brownstones expensively restored abound, cobblestone sidewalks with 100+ year old trees growing out of them line the street, if only it didn't cost 60 arms and 44 legs to live there....

How many times have you been to the R&R hall of fame? And how does it compair to other museums?

The gardens look really nice too. Some of it looks very similar to our gardens. I love the little poison dart frogs. None of their pictures came out tho because of all the reflections on their tanks. :(

We have a decent zoo too, tho I've only been a few times. Yet every time I go those damn galapagos turtles are always having sechs! I wonder if they are always doing it, or just wanna do it for me?

we're not really known for many landmarks in rochester, but for festivals, especially the Lilac festival- when the lilacs bloom in highland park, it's enough to put a production together and get drunk and silly. http://www.lilacfestival.com/

It's close enough to claim for me, so I claim the finger lakes wine country:chikken: http://www.fingerlakeswine.com/apps/pbcs.dll/frontpage

I guess the Eastman house counts too, former home of the founder of Kodak: http://www.eastman.org/

Oooo! I wanna go to the Eastman house! My camera would be verah happy thar. :D
