Colorado is the best. Denver by far is a fantastic metro area. The weather is 100% not like people think it is.

i dont think anchorage is anything like people think it is either.

case in point: it's very similar to denver in the winter.

lack of sunlight in the winter makes anchorage a lot colder on average, but 50 degree days in the winter definitely aren't heard of. snowfall is probably similar to denver. anchorage sits on the ocean which helps it out a lot (or hurts it some days).

it gets a bit colder when you go the 14000 miles up into the mountains

i don't disagree.

to be honest, almost everything I would want to do in alaska outdoors wise, I can do the exact same things in Colorado for a lot cheaper.

only thing alaska really has that's special from anywhere else is the fishing, its completely ridiculous, but I'm no fisherman so couldn't care less.

The weather in Denver was great, it was mostly the nutjob CA transplants and samesvilleness of the metro area that turned me off.

And it's quite a bit colder where I am now, funny thing is, when outside it doesn't feel nearly as cold as downtown Boston on days like when you were there.
