For last 7 years I've been in IT because I'm good at it. Sure, there have been "highs", but for the most part my career in IT has been entirely unsatisfactory to me, and I've decided to do something about it. At this point I'm pretty firmly centered on going back to school and getting a degree in Business Management (the hope being that with that I can move on to something I will enjoy since that degree is so "broad"), but I'd like some input from you peoplez on what I should do from there.

Suggestions can either be serios or silly. Ready, go!

Hi, my name is Kyle McCutchan, and I don't settle.

What do you like to do? You know other than the following:

shoot
kill
shoot
kill
Kiwi
breed
shoot
shoot

Porn star. Forward all video footage to [email protected]

Ever think about consulting? You get to travel and move to a variety of projects for a variety of people.

Start your own company? Perhaps a store where you can by non-alcoholic beer, candy cigarettes, and guns? :fly: Utah is funny

Stay at home and be a dad while your wife does the breadwinning?

I need someone to carry my records. Though the commute would be a motha, you would be paid handsomely in Crown and Seven and clove cigarettes. :)

OR.. you could go into education.. all kinds of programs out now to get people to teach coming from the "business world".. you could be a tech guy at a school teaching kids and faculty..

aren't you the gun enthusiast? my pops makes a killing (not literally) doing gun shows on the wknds.. he's the magazine-acclaimed tusk king of the world.. does the ivory grips.

Indeed. Politician is really the only logical answer based on those points.

I hate traveling. Kiwi had to drug me BA Barracus style to get me to fly to Florida.

Mid-life crisis?

I'M 27 fkr! GAH!

I've thought about the private gun-sales thing, but the reality is that getting started in it would break me financially.

If only Alf were still on tv, you could be the guy in the costume.

Alas, it looks like you're stuck with IT.

Fake edit: It took you 7 years to decide IT sucks? Slow learner.

Since you're already saying that you're planning on going back to school for what is a broad, but semi-focused degree, wouldn't you want to start moving toward a position that would make a more natural transition into some management of sorts? You're in IT now, start looking for an IT manager job? I'm probably just looking at this too simply, as usual.

I had a screaming and frantic call this morning from a woman who could not log in because her numlock was turned off. I do not want to do this for the rest of my life.

People change careers many times in their lives. It's okay to move on to something else.

Doing the same thing for 40 years straight is not fun.

Going into Business Management after having worked in the IT world is actually a great thing to do. If you are a people person you will find that jobs will open up for you because not only can you run the business, you can also coordinate between IT and Management.

Ha, you're exactly where I am. Except I'm a paralegal and you're an IT dude. I'm going to get a finance degree and an MBA. After that I could either continue to be a paralegal or get into international business like I want. Bus. Admin. degrees can have a particular focus (BYU should have some pretty sweet programs), so check them out.
