Kindle Fire announced today...

$199. Great? Awesome?

I say 'Why not wait until you build the tablet as it should be'...

what you get. WiFi only. 7" screen (really? 7"? Pointless waste).

No Camera. No Microphone.

From what I have read, this is just a 'stopgap' tablet until they can make a real one.

This is not the iPad killer. A 7" screen, to me, is useless.

This is capitalism. Why release the be all and end all tablet from the start when they can make you buy one or two inferior models first?

it's based on the blackberry playbook. the same company that made the playbook is making this with only some minor tweaks. I'm hearing it sucks already

You do realize this is a Kindle right? And who the fuck is calling it an iPad killer?

Then they're idiots. Even though its got a touchscreen, its designed as an e-reader. That can't be a difficult concept to grasp, can it?

Even amazon is referring to it as a tablet, and marketing it with the ability to add aps. That takes it past mere e-reader status, imho.

Yes, of course it can run apps. Its still an e-reader first. That's their market! That's why its still called a Kindle.
