The same could be argued of virtually anything that doesn't put food on the table and a roof over one's head.
Art has no purpose but to be art, even if you don't think it's art.

They are simple ways of expressing complex concepts. You might as well say there isn't a point to poetry.

This is a huge pet peeve of mine. People calling anything, art.
Purpose of fine art is essentially communication/expression. Usually if something isn't meant to be an expression it isn't a fine art.

Art in general just refers to the mastery of a skill.

imo, poetry is about rhyming. Haiku is about putting words in some arbitrary format.
