Just got a call from the Sheriff

Besides, everyone knows that you never call up the escorts from your own phone. That is why the world still has pay phones.

as a parent, i would really like to know this stuff. i don't know what i would DO, but at least i'd be aware and have the option to move if i wanted to.

the way i see it, if you are a sexual offender, you've broken the law, and this is part of what comes with it. i can see how hard your life would be with this always following you, and i'm sure it's hard, but this is part of the territory. it's the same as having to report that you've been convicted of a felony. :iono:

He's been in jail as restitution for his crime. He has been absolved of all charges. imho, its cruel and unusual punishment. What is it going to help? You should be watching your kids already, rather than relying on the government to tell you when something bad is around.

(I obviously dont mean you specifically)

Well for a 12/13 year old kid, you can't watch them at all times. They should, depending on the neighborhood, be able to ride their bikes around the block or whatever the parent feels is appropriate.

And regardless of whether or not the judicial system has absolved him of his charges, its rare that a child molester be a one time offender.

Maybe not watch them 24/7, but you can know where they are and teach them common sense about this world. And how is alerting everyone in a 2 mile radius helping kids to ride their bikes anyway? Its not, its turning the area into a warzone and a hazardous environment for a, now, innocent person.

I'd like to see credible stats on repeat offenders.

Hardly innocent.

Here are the stats:

all of the above. i saw a thing one time with parents hiding out in a van, watching "strangers" approach their kids, ranging from probably 7 to 13 or so. the parents got all comfortable in their confidence, and most came out crying. most kids trust a smiling face, or a worried woman who's looking for her dog. and predators know this. some monitor their prey. they take notes and make a plan and are excellent at planning a game. they know when even the most watchful parent has his or her back turned.

as much as i agree with you, fly, i have to consider the more urgent danger. and that is that there are people out there who are not able to follow laws, nor care if their time is up. i think that just because you've done your time, it doesn't mean your time's done. most of these guys are sexually sick, and as a good parent, i have to do my best to protect my child. and that includes being as informed as i can be, so i can make the best decision for my child.

well, and I think it's an illness they're simply predisposed to and can't control.

I'd harly call that credible

So then why not just kill them? Will you be happy when you finally have blood on your hands, all in the name of child safety?
Fly's point is, if they're out of jail "rehabilitated" as it were, they should be free. Full rights restored.

If they are not safe to be on the street, what are they doing out of jail?

Exactly. Jail is supposed to be your payment for society for doing wrong. They did their time and if it isn't enough to absolve the crime, then don't let them out.
