John Kerry

yeah but for them to say that they are hurting really bad and that is why they need to drive gas prices to over 3 dollars a gallon is complete bullshit. If they were hurting so bad why did their profits jump so much?

When did they say they were hurting? "They" didn't drive gas prices that high. Exxon has no more control over the price at the pump than politicians do. Futures and commodities markets are far too complex and fickle to simply be controlled by whatever fat cat decides he needs a new fleet or LearJets.

Seriously. The oil industry is the largest market in the world, it deals with the most amount of money. Focus on profit MARGINS, not profit numbers. Even then, they're still private companies that have the right to charge whatever they damn well please. It's our own damn fault that we're so reliant on oil. They're not to blame, neither is OPEC or the middle east or anyone else. Americans are the only ones at fault for America's dependancy on fossil fuels.

This is true but if it goes back up im buying a freakin syfin(sp) and stealing it from now on.

Only if they buy stuff retail.

and how many illegals do you know get distribution licenses so they can buy straight from the warehouse? :tard:

The only ways to get around the Fair Tax are to either be too poor to afford shit in the first place, steal, or buy everything second hand which is going to be impossible when it comes to food. But at the end of the day just about everything will be taxed at least once, even those second hand items.

No it's not. With inflation factored in gas companies should be charging over three dollars a gallon. Considering their volume, smaller companies have been much more profitable. The numbers just look intimidating when you are scared of large numbers.

The feds make more money in taxes per gallon than oil companies earn in profit.

I honestly dont know enough on this subject to argue it(gasoline) but when you hear the reasons for gas prices being raised due to the hurricanes and the war constantly being said it pisses you off to hear that they made more money than ever.

Most financial institutions, such as commercial banks, are routinely more profitable than Exxon Mobil was in its third quarter. For example, Exxon Mobil's gross margin of 9.8 cents of profit for every dollar of revenue pales in comparison to Citigroup Inc.'s 15.7 cents in 2004. By percentage of total revenue, banking is consistently the most profitable industry in America, followed closely by the drug industry.

Altria Group, the maker of Marlboro and other cigarettes, made 22 cents for every dollar of revenue in 2004, and pharmaceutical company Merck made 25.3 cents for every dollar of revenue in 2004.

yeah but we are all paying for shit that only some use, how is that fair?

I should have to pay for parks because you need a place to walk your dog and do stencil work?

We are all a working member in society, and we all do our part in different ways. Be it paying taxes or eating your shit. It all balances out somewhere down the line. Do you truly feel the gov't is cheating you?

You don't? $250 million dollar bridge to nowhere? Welfare recipients popping out kids to get bigger checks? Illegals given driver's licenses and medicare cards? Schools building olympic sized swimming pools instead of buying new textbooks? Do you honestly believe that the government spends our money wisely?
