So the wifey gave me a spiffy new digital camera for my birthday ( olympus e500, I think is what it is) , and I'm interested in some basic photography books.
Like photography 101 type stuff. Nothing too basic tho.
Also, if you know of some good websites of the same subject, those would be appreciated as well.

The nice white lady in the picture seems to be enjoying herself.

dude, this is a serious suggestion. that book is not overly basic, at least imo. Get the SLR version if your camera is SLR. I have this book. So if you are calling me stupid then maybe you are right, but look at this one at the bookstore. It is a decent starting point.

I guess without knowing your current level of skill it's hard to define the difference between photo 101, and not overly basic. Those two are kind of 1 in the same.

No, I thought you were trying to be funny.
Ill give it a look.

You know by now that I'm not funny, sheesh.

It may be that you are beyond that book, but what I got from that one was some pretty good ideas about picture composition and lighting that have helped me out a lot with how to use my camera's features to get a better looking picture overall.

You have apparently forgotten how awesome I am.

By the way, I own this book and would highly recommend it.

(Some decent links to guide you to other digital photography books too if you scroll down)

My sister has that book. I thumbed through it last time I was visiting and it did seem pretty good, some stuff was over my head though. I'll throw a vote in for this one too.

You could always take a photo continuing ed class. Val just took a couple at San Jac.

Thats a really good idea. I had one and throughly enjoyed it.

Best part was learning to make a camera and taking a photo with is thus learning how the whole process worked. That really helped me understand cameras.
