Well, I know I haven't posted here in a long time, but I'm just busting at the seams in excitement over this wedding thing. What started out as a simple, small, budget oriented affair has BLOWN UP into quite a ... well... a wedding.
So I figured I'd share as many of the details as I could, and let me know what you think!!
My invitations arrived today, they're really great. They're printed in shiny silver raised lettering on transluscent paper, this is the concept I designed (in black letters so you can read it on a computer)
We've got printed Thank you cards with a nice little verse printed on them, we've got reception cards, response cards, programs... the works. All of the envelopes are printed in silver ink with silver liners. They're so pretty!!
We're going to have 10 people in our wedding party. Djfacemachine is my maid of honor, and I've got Redwallflower as a bridesmaid and then other friends and sisters in law... they will be wearing this dress:
There will be a best man and 4 grooms men as well, they will all be wearing the charcoal morning suits which look like this:
We're going to have hundreds of red roses EVERYWHERE, the girls' bouquets and the centerpieces will look something like this:
Except all of the corsages are baby roses instead of that white stuff. The bouquets and centerpieces will have stargazer lillies in them but no green and no white, just red red red!
We're having an afternoon reception with a 7 course sit down meal followed by dancing. All of the music will be 50's inspired romantic, swing, jazzy type stuff the likes of Louie Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennet...etc. There will be no modern music, no chicken dance, none of that tomfoolery.
I'm going to be wearing an original design by a local dress shop owner which is ivory/white with silver embroidery, a chapel train with embrodery and embroidered cap sleves and a lace up back with a satin lined chapel length veil.
Rather than having my father escort me down the aisle, I will be escorted by my 5 brothers and Flynavy. I will begin down the aisle with a single red rose dedicted to my grandfather who passed away, each brother will be carrying 2 red roses dedicated to a departed family member, as we reach the 1/2 way down the aisle, Ryan will walk up to us, each brother will kiss me on the cheek, give me the 2 roses he carries, shake Ryan's hand and then procede to where he sits... after all 6 guys give me my roses, Ryan will pull out a silver satin ribbon and tie all 13 roses together (tying the knot!) to make my bouquet. We will then walk the rest of the way down the aisle together.
It's going to be an amazing day, and a rather untraditional ceremony. We wanted something that was romantic, sentimental and memorable and not the conventional cookie cutter style wedding, so our Rev is actually a coreographer and will be making the entire thing more of a theatrical event than a standard wedding.
It's going to be INCREDIBLE
I'm very excited!!
