It is illegal in some states because some people can't realize on their own that it is wrong and not to mention dangerous for the offspring down the road. While I am no biologist, my understanding is that inbreeding/incest creates a scenario where rare and often terrible genetic diseases and disfunctions are more likely to occur. It is not uncommon for geneticists to study small, secluded groups of Amish people where inbreeding is known to occur. These studies have uncovered extremely rare diseases and some diseases that have never been seen before.

I wonder if the small (<100) person tribes that live separated from other civilizations in the amazon, africa, and other undeveloped places have similar occurances.

That being said, does the government really enforce laws regarding incest if it isn't a rape issue?

as long as both partners are of consenting age. I could care less what they do behind closed doors.

I really don't care to enforce some moral obligation on a victimless crime.

now if it is some underage shit..yeah we gotta problem. but if all parties are adults. I really don't care nor do I care to know.
