Fidel is still alive though I doubt it will be for long. Even some of his closest advisors wouldn't be too unhappy to see him pass. That being said I don't think Raul will do any favors for the Cuban people. They claim he's more pragmatic but he genuinely believes in what his brother and Che were trying to accomplish. If anything things will get better for the elite and perhaps slightly less shitty for the peons but overall Cuba will still be the same place it is today until the people find a way to take their nation back.
 
Cuba would do well to let free market reign supreme on their shores. They need to become the holiday isle of the tropics once again. They should never have kicked out the mob run Casinos. :(

Fuck that, it'll ruin Cuba. I've been there, and if it's a free market, I'm never going back. That, and the price of cigars will skyrocket.

they still drive american cars from the 50's...free market hasn't seen the light of day there in a long time

How would it ruin Cuba? It would create the one thing any free society requires to be economically properous: a middle class.

ruin it? im sure if they would at least pay a garbage company to collect the trash it would be a lot better.

why do you think a free market would ruin Cuba? the jobs? the influx of cash? :confused:

the cars are held together with coat hangers. I just loved the complete escape from society when I was there. No Coke billboards, no McDonalds on every corner, it was amazing and so refreshing to see something completely different.
