If You Were Genetically Predisposed to Have Breast Cancer - Would you Remove Your Bre

that is excessive prophylaxis.

the majority of people are predisposed, however, the likelihood is still too hard to call.

thank you america, for creating more useless, money generating procedures.

difference being that i am a medical student/junior specialist in clinical oncology and teratology.

my focus is not to create hysteria among a patient base then make money off the backs of their fear. our job is diagnoses and treatment. as I said before, anything more is excessive and unneeded prophylaxis as better steps can be taken than lopping off a breast or other bodily appendage due to the fear amongst john doe's created by the private medicine lobby.

full body MRI anyone? is that abnormal growth in your breast, or an oil well?

You fail to understand that we're a nation of fear. It's woven into the very fabric of the country. Like some fucked up child, its actually what makes us feel safe.

Society is very complex, but when you can tie into the reptilian brain, manipulation gets much easier.

I have no gripe with individual Americans, but as a whole the belief is prevalent. Anything not cooked up beneath the florescent glare of the marketing and focus groups is unpalatable.

Medicine should not be driven by profit, and no, that's not some commielibo view. A patient trusts their Doctor to act in their best possible interest, when that trust is broken in the search for profit we become nothing more than dishonest mechanics.

The "Oil Well" belief often rings true. Unneeded procedures = $$$, and it's especially easy when the fear of possible death is instilled in you by a professional you trust to act only in the interests of your health.

As always fly, you reaffirm my belief in the straight thinking American gent. If only this tendency was more common outside of this forum.

Come on now...
