Meat in the UK is ground wrong. I could never place it exactly but the texture is off, like it's shredded.

You're talking about cheap burgers etc. Those sorts of meat are reclaimed by mechanical process from the carcass and are basically meat slurry. Quality ground ( or as we call it minced) meats are a completely different texture. This would be how any quality meat is minced here, the same as on your side of the pond

They're like.....shiny, or something, it's odd.

But neither are as upsetting as the dearth of just plain spring water with no minerals.
