The gov of SC has canceled school within a 100 mile radius of the cost. I'm right on the edge of that radius.

I've explained hurricanes to at least 10 people today. We're 214 miles from Wilmington.
By the time this storm hits Charlotte, it will have lost hurricane status considerably.

Not usually. As far as I know, the last really bad hurricane for SC was Hugo. That was before I was born. The worst part for us is how bad SC is at getting things back up and running. It took about a week to get electricity back for many and almost two years for them to clean up after Matthew.
