How bad could these speakers be?

I've been looking for some cheapish satellites like these for the flat panel TV I have bolted to the wall at the end of my bar. For $9 a piece I'm tempted to try them out.

You spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars on a TV and you can't be brought to spend more than $10 on speakers? I would think that whatever built in speakers the unit has would be better than these. I would also ask the question "To what amplifier would you be hooking these things to?".

Just look at the thread title. I could hook them up to a car battery until they explode when I'm done with them.
