All sports could implode and we'd still be fine. Regarding the midwest, Columbus is IT heaven.

Well the minute Lebron leaves, the Cavs are done. And since the Cavs are our only hope of winning anything in any sport, that blow will ripple through the already-hurting baseball and football teams. Such a small city cannot afford to keep that many different types of professional sports teams competitive anymore.
