this morning I found a caterpillar that had been parasitized and the larvae had just emerged. they pretty quickly got to work spinning silk within which they will pupate and emerge as adults.

I have the pupae in a jar for now so I can see what they'll be! some kind of braconid or ichneumon wasp, but there's like, hundreds of thousands of them.

the caterpillar was still alive after the emergence but I don't know for how long, it fucked off out of the original mass and then I came back at one point and it was gone, idk if it scuttled away or got eaten.
