The funny thing about dieting and diet plans is that everyone is vastly different in what they need and don't need. This is why seeing a nutritionist is better than following the latest diet fad.
I subscribe to the 'carbs in moderation' method as well. Avoiding white flour like the plauge, and not having an overabundance of starches.

Obesity and being overweight are not caused by eating too much and certainly not by eating food with “too much” fat.

If you read the whole article, their argument is that carbs are the "lattice" that hold fat in our bodies. Without them, you really can't be fat...
