Health Care in the US...

I'll disagree there :p

If'n I can't carry a handgun legally, it ain't no country free enough for me. :fly:

you can't carry a handgun in parts of the US

if you get a permit, you can carry one in Canada too. But there really is no need.

It's state laws though, not the entire country.

exactly, there are parts of Canada where you can get a hand gun permit too.

granted it's not easy, but you don't really need one. Our gun deaths are rather small compared to the US. When we kill someone, we do it the hardcore way.

1) Kill all the ambulance chasers like the Democratic Party V.P. candidate. It is sad that we have 10 lawyers for every engineer were as Japan has something like 26 engineers for every lawyer
2) Get rid of the insurance companies. People think that just because they have insurance they need to go to the emergency room every time they get a hangnail, headache, or sniffle. Emergency room care is the most expensive care there is today. As late 1950’s middle class families were able to pay there own medical bills out of their normal family income.
3) We need to set up Medical Saving Accounts for catastrophic situations. If the money is never used then it can be inherited with no tax consequences.

It's always been my understanding that more socialist health care systems equals less R&D for new medical practices / medicines.

I mean I doubt the government would fund every little research campaign or pay high prices for new cures, etc...so operating in a capitalist economy creates more of a drive to advance the medical field.

Isn't Canada's medical R&D practically non-existant? I thought they were all piggy backing off other countries for new medical developments...

So we shouldn't be allowed to sue if we are wrongfully injured?
