Have you ever had a moment where...

I shouldn't because its my responsibility to do this work, but lets see if you can for the hell of it.

How do the major producers analyze opportunities for this product?

Product being coffee.

hmmm, good question. Been awhile since marketing.

I would say the product itself, coffee, has little to do with how opportunities are analyzed. At least if you compare it to other beverages like sodas and bottled water.

I would assume that the major producers divide the markets up along demographic lines such as age, region, sex, etc. From there they further parse out who they are targeting until they get down to the individual consumer level.

The coffee market is a very mature market, falling somewhere at the top of the graph of the product lifecycle. Growth is minimal and decline isn't in sight yet. The producers efforts should be directed towards acquiring customers who are new to coffee, generally teens and young adults, and maintaining their current customers by not losing them to other producers and other alternative products such as caffeinated sodas and energy drinks.

Hmm I guess that could answer it, I was thinking too complicated. This project is driving me nuts since it isn't easily found on the net.

I have access to an online library with articles, magazines, encyclopedias, etc. What's the difference?! :fly:

I dunno, laziness. We had internet access back then of course, although it wasn't as ubiquitous freshman and sophmore years. I guess we group up doing it the hard way, and thats the way we liked it.

I tried the hard way last week and went to a library, stayed for about thirty minutes where I became fed up and left with a book to read for pleasure than what my project requested.

It's a clusterfuck in those places, can't believe they are still around.

Wouldn't it be nicer to just request what writing you want on your palm pilot instead of taking the trip up there and searching for it?!
