234 years ago today the Continental Congress realized that the Continental Navy and Army needed some help to fight off the British. So they took a bunch of rifles, a horde of pitbulls, some hot peppers and a load of rocks, mixed them together and out came two battalions of Marines led by Capt Samuel Nicholas. Some find it amusing that the birthplace of the Marine Corps was Tun Tavern in Philadelphia, PA. A bar. To us, it just makes sense.
