Greedo shot first...

One thing we do know is that he should have used the sight on the gun instead of that lame ass shoting with the gun turned sideways.
Y'know that style of shooting actually has origin in practical use? During a drive-by having the gun tilted would keep the ejected casings in the vehicle making it harder for police to collect evidence. Eventually it was seen as a cool looking pose and emulated by...well, people who don't really know how to shoot. I've shot like that before just to see what it was like (figured I have no business knocking it until I understand why it's wrong) and yeah, it sucked.

At least if I ever have a gun pointed at me like that from more than twenty yards I'll know I have a much better chance of surviving.

Okay... how about this:

Greedo was a Rodian smuggler or bounty hunter in the employ of Jabba the Hutt. He was killed during an attempt to capture or kill Han Solo after Jabba the Hutt placed a bounty on Han's head.

I wish to die now. In my attempts to figure out whether Greedo was a smuggler, a bounty hunter, or a smugglehunter, I found this reference on the star wars website

http://www.starwars.com/databank/character/greedo/

It wasn't good enough to change the movies, it wasn't good enough to rewrite the story to make Han's character more noble or chivalrous. It wasn't good enough to leave the movie intact...

DID YOU THINK WE WOULD FORGET MR. LUCAS? DID YOU THINK WE WOULD JUST ROLL OVER AND REMEMBER WHAT YOU WANTED US TO?

Sorry, star wars gets me a bit worked up sometimes. What were we talking about again? Black on black crime, or was it porn? I prefer black on white vs. black on black. They just embrace far too many stereotypes in the monoracial videos. But a 98lb blond girl getting railed by a guy that could be King Kong's stuntcock... That is just plain old sexy right there.

does it make me a nerd that i have the book where greedo's backround is explained? ah, tales from the mos eisley cantina

I've had that since I was 11. I actually have all the Star Wars books published up to 2000... :(

See, I kinda figured, at first, that Greedo was a bounty hunter. But then I thought about it. He was so bad at it. A proper bounty hunter would've shot Solo dead on sight. Or stunned him. Or ambushed him on his way out of the bar or something. But no, not Greedo. Greedo had to walk over, sit down, and start talking smack.

I figure he was just some peon who spent his time smuggling space-crack pipes or rancor poop or something and was just trying to do a little ladder climbing. He probably went apeshit when he bumped into Han, what with the big bounty Jabba was offering and all. He was just a sucker who blew his big chance.
