Another term I just read was "bromosexual". Basically this is a person that is gay but routinely gets mistaken for being straight. I definitely don't fall into that category.

No, he's out, but not by a public venue. The reason he won't (and can't) is because he can't do the journalism thing in countries and with interviewees if they are against gays. If he never publicly claims any sexual orientation, he can still get those jobs in Africa or Middle East.
