Get Educated. Get A Gun. Get Trained.

I don't take it personally. I think I just value life in general more than my own. I'd certainly throw down my life to save another, but to kill someone would probably kill me overall. I don't like watching people die. It's horrid. It's the stuff of nightmares. Knowing I did that, took that precious gift from someone, no matter what their intentions, just seems like too awful a thing. I would always wonder if things could have turned out differently. I would wonder if that person I killed could not have been a changed person later in life. I would wonder lots of things. I'm not God and death is not my choice for anyone else.

As for kids, I remember when I was little my parents would keep the snack food in an upper cabinet out of my reach. But I was a smart little 3 year old and I knew how to drag a chair over and stand on it and some books and get what I wanted. They also used to lock the basement door with a lock that was at the top of the door. I knew how to open that too. I cannot think of a single place in my house where I could hide a gun and believe that my children could not get at it.

Just keep it hidden. Your kids don't have to know you own one until they're 6-8. Trigger lock, high shelf, nondescript box in your closet. You used to do all of that stuff for cookies because you A) had cookies before, B) knew where they were and C) hung around the kitchen for legitimate reasons anyway, so it was on your mind.

That's horrible advice. What happens when they find it? I found my parent's porn when I was little. I didn't know what it was, I wasn't looking for it, but I found it anyway. I had no idea what to do with it, but there was a dot-to-dot puzzle of people doing 69 in one of the magazines and my parents found me sitting on the floor in their bedroom doing the puzzle. Good times.

What the fuck is a 1911?

And a shotgun won't fit under said drawer. I could however hide one under the couch in the home theater where I spend most of my time at night.

I dunno if you live or work in Portland, but damn man, making the news every night now with someone getting shot, an occupied builiding being shot, drive-by, etc. Dangerous friggin town now. I'd be packing heat as well.

My friend came back from college a couple weeks ago and came over my house. We joked around about both of us getting Maine CCWs. I didn't think we even had those up here. He wants to get a USP really bad lawlz.

Not in a box... I know when I was little, like about seven, I crawled myself up into the attic and was rummaging around in all of my parents old things. Inside a 'discreet' box I found a nudie novel. Like one of those position books with the people sketched out in black and white in very compromising yet alluring positions.

Kids are curious and always go through shit. Lock up your firearms! (not your nudie novels tho!)

I like to keep those under the bed for those nights I can't fall asleep.

Did you notice your name scribbled on any of the nudie position pages?

I'm more concerned about the late night break ins and home invasions that seem to be fashionable round here now. Nothing says "get the fuck out of my house" like a gun.

edit: I live in Portland.

I wouldn't go that far:
