because it wasn't about hotlinking, it was the fact that copyrighted pics from porn sites were being posted in the first place. the hotlinking was just how the companies realized it

either way, it's because having a payment processor comes with certain rules and there are additional machinations that need to be done in terms of age verification if you have such things open to all members. he doesn't make any profit off the forum; to this day it's still a drain on the resources of the rest of the company so there's no point in dumping additional time and funds into something that only exists out of a state of nostalgia
