My grandfather totally used to play up his hearing loss. He was almost completely deaf in 1 ear from the Korean War, but his other ear was fine. He used to just completely ignore my grandmother.
One day I was sitting in the lounge room with my grandmother and grandfather, (Nan & Pop). Nan turns to Pop and says, "Ray, what do you want for dinner?"....... (Pop is silent)........ "Ray?"..............."RAY!"...... At this point Nan is frustrated and gets up and leaves the room. Pop turn to me and says, "Right, now that she out of here, I'm going to the pub"
FUCKING LOL!
Juli is gonna love this!
I just got off the phone with the nurses' station on my mother's floor in the hospital for a second time. The second call was prompted by my father telling me a bunch of bad mojo that happened last night that they neglected to tell me. I asked why none of that was mentioned to me on the phone the FIRST time, and they said "it's because your'e not here to come in and see her. It's not like you can do anything about the situation where you are in Virginia". I told the nurse I hope her kids move away from her right before she needs them the most.
I'm not sure how you wear baklava to bed but I'm willing to give it a try!
