For the first time ever, I was unable to donate blood. The lady missed my artery and my arm was on fire. I couldn't take the pain anymore. Can't wait to see the size of the bruise that's going to show up.

:( How often do you give blood? Just once a year or quarter? What are your thoughts about shrinking the period between in times of need?

The last time I tried to give blood I was denied. Not for the same reason DB gets denied, but for taking antibiotics.

I thought it was because you were too thin and didn't weigh enough.

Everytime they hold a drive at work which is about every 4-5 months. I don't know what the health aspects of donating faster than every two months, but if there's no health risk from less blood, I'd be all for it.

The AHA or the controlling bodies of the donations put in a bill that said you can donate as soon as 2 days later another pint when in emergency shortages or the like. I think that's a bit too quick.

Why do you think it's too quick?

Because you can only regenerate plasma that fast and you get less and less red blood cells as it takes 8 weeks for generating those. And we need red blood cells for feeding our body.

Some people faint already as it is. This would make that worse.

I asked him, specifically, for a reason.

He didn't say what sort of donation, because if youre only doing plasma it shouldnt make a difference. I've only ever donated plasma cause for some reason the type that is universal donor for plasma is the one that can't donate rbc to anyone except the same type.
