Well eventually people will realize that what you post of facebook etc can have an affect on your job. If you have a job where a potential morals issue may affect it then don't fucking post the pictures. I don't know why people feel the need to document every daily event of their life for everyone to see.

It was a picture of going to dinner in Ireland. This concern would have merit if she had 10 beers or was drunk looking, but people take pictures drinking wine all the time. Even before the advent of social media.

It doesn't matter if there is any risk don't post the pic. I'm not saying people shouldn't have lives just don't post your life. I read a story that said 85% of companies now scan social networking site prior to hiring someone. I know for me I prefer not to have a site so there is no chance of anything being taken out of context and potentially affecting me.

you're a whore, but in a good way. Kindof.
But how far does this go? wow's friday night date posts a pic on her facebook, & it gets back to wow's boss, & poof, he's fired?

does it really matter who posted the pic? Does a receipt from a restaurant with alcohol on it make you unworthy of a teaching job? What about attending a teaching conference where they are serving alcohol? Are teachers forbidden from having a beer and wine with dinner? God forbid you do it in a bikini!

What if waw's date emailed the pic to her friend who happened to know waw's boss. What if waw's date was sooo enamoured, she printed the pic out 8x10 style, framed it & put it on her mantle. Is this public display problematic if the girl invites one of her friends over (who also happens to work w/wow) and gets the boss involved?

this is all bullshit.

The same thing can happen with talking about a baby. That doesn't justify it, and it is very wrong. Plus people post pictures to share with those family members not around them as well. If people use social media to connect with only family members, how is that justification for removal?

Then lock your site down so it's just your family. Most people have their sites open and have 400 friends that they don't know.

That's true. But in the case of the fired teacher, her site was locked down. All the administration had was an "anonymous" email.

Couldn't remote shut them down? (don't know if security since you're government would prevent you from doing that or not)

I do have a remote access, but the servers where already down. Had a problem with our filer, had to replace one of the power supplies on it.
