Fart Hood Sharting

I'm sure this is more of, "this is the hot story" as opposed to all of a sudden a rash of shootings started occurring.

it's not like our armed forces are killing each other every day. it's going to be news every time

http://www.wwaytv3.com/node/19184

The Marine Corps says a Camp Lejeune Marine is in custody for the alleged murder of another Marine early this morning. The Corps says the suspect is 21-year-old Pvt. Jonathan Law, but so far no charges have been filed against Law. According to a press release, Law was a supply administration clerk assigned to 2nd Supply Battalion, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, II Marine Expeditionary Force.

There is no word on the victim pending family notification. Law joined the Marine Corps August 15, 2006. He deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from August 2007 to March 2008. His awards include the Iraqi Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.

The crime comes a day after investigators say an Army psychiatrist opened fire at Fort Hood in Texas killing 12 people and injuring 30.

WWAY will have the latest on the investigation at Camp Lejeune tonight on WWAY NewsChannel 3 starting at 5 p.m.

The ranks are named different but we use the same insignia. An Army Colonel, a Marine Colonel and a Navy Captain - all 0-6s - will all wear the silver eagle.

Our E-1 rank is private. I'd say 1/3 start off as contract PFCs in boot camp (you get that from JROTC, being an eagle scout or helping your recruiter bring in fresh meat or college credits, etc), every now and then there will be a meritorious promotion to lance corporal in boot camp but it's very rare. The rest are privates but unless they get in trouble, three months out of boot camp they'll be PFCs. Requirement for E-2 is 6 months time in service. Since grunts go through two months of school of infantry they usually pick it up in about a month after joining their first unit. POGs do a month of combat training and then at least a couple months of MOS school so rarely do you see a private out in the fleet for very long
