The Marine Corps says a Camp Lejeune Marine is in custody for the alleged murder of another Marine early this morning. The Corps says the suspect is 21-year-old
Pvt. Jonathan Law, but so far no charges have been filed against Law. According to a press release, Law was a supply administration clerk assigned to 2nd Supply Battalion, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, II Marine Expeditionary Force.
There is no word on the victim pending family notification. Law joined the Marine Corps August 15, 2006. He deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from August 2007 to March 2008. His awards include the Iraqi Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
The crime comes a day after investigators say an Army psychiatrist opened fire at Fort Hood in Texas killing 12 people and injuring 30.
