So this is what is happening in my neighborhood tomorrow. Should be interesting. I used to attend the event as a child, but it never really excited me. Living on the street it is happening on has changed my perspective on the festival. In the park a block away from my house there are stages set up that had sound checks all day today and all sorts of food stands for the Glendi. Also all up and down my street are telivision cameras on huge booms. We even have our apartment building decorated in the traditional Greek colors of bue and white. It's all quite a bit more exciting than I had thought it would be.

Sorry no content, just thoguht I would share what's going on around here.

Some very important people will be in front of my house in the morning, here a few tidbits I found:

What kind of local festivals or events do you all have in your areas?

Our St. Patricks Day is nowhere near as good as any that the US puts on, although, to be honest, Irish-American's are usually a bunch of dickheads.

There is a large Greek Orthodox church that does an excellent Greek festival the first weekend in May.

Greek Easter is insane around here too. Right now I'm hearing the Greek bombs go off all over town....add a few hundred goats and bottles of ouzo and you got easter. :fly:

I was in Florence, Italy for the feast of the epiphany one year. I went to the cathedral for mass and it was awesome. The music actually made me cry it was so beautiful. No good celebrations happen around here that I am aware of at this time of the year.

Why have I never heard of this holiday untill today?

Orthodox Christians are weird. I hear they eat their own babies. It's no wonder they try to keep this stuff under wraps.

So I just went to the gas station for coffee and cigarettes......they had my house taped off behind police lines when I got back and I just had to sit and wait while they detonated a bomb at the shady hotel next door. I'm going out to enjoy the festivities now.....HOPE I DON"T GET BLOWN UP!!!!
